The International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) is an umbrella organization for many of the regional and national societies of immunology throughout the world. As articulated in its Constitution, the objectives of IUIS are:
- to organize international co-operation in immunology and to promote communication between the various branches of immunology and allied subjects
- to encourage within each scientifically independent territory co-operation between the Societies that represent the interests of immunology
- to contribute to the advancement of immunology in all its aspects.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the early death of Else Kröner, the Else Kröner Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS foundation) will endow an international research award of € 4 Million. The award intends to acknowledge world-wide pioneering discoveries in the field of immunology and to facilitate future research by the winning individual or team.

At the 14th International Congress of Immunology in Kobe, Japan, from August 22 to 27, 2010, the new Executive Board and Council of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) were formed. The Congress was a great success with 6000 participants. The next ICI will take place in Milano, Italy, 2013, and thereafter in Melbourne, Australia, in 2016. Our Executive Board convenes annually, together with the IUIS Council. Our next meeting will take place in Lima, Peru in May 2012 on the occasion of the annual meeting of the Latin American Society of Immunology (ALAI).
